Matevž Česen was born on December 26, 1987, in Ljubljana. He started dancing at the age of eight and was greatly influenced by the Artistic Gymnasium with a focus on contemporary dance. He continued his studies abroad and graduated from the London Studio Center at the London Academy of Music - Department of Jazz Dance Company at the London University of Arts. He is a 10-time national champion, 4-time European champion, and 4-time world champion. He received the award for Best Dance at the North American Dance Championship in New York, USA. He also received the award for Best Individual Dancer in Slovenia in 2014.
As a choreographer and coach, he has achieved numerous titles of world, European, and national champion. He is also the winner of the IDO GALA WORLD EVENT - Best of the Best in 2019 and 2020. He has received special awards from the Dance Organization of Slovenia for Best Choreographer in 2016 and 2019, as well as a special award for his significant contribution to Slovenia's recognition on the world dance map in 2019.
Matevž Česen has also received an award from the Olympic Committee and recognition from the mayor of the capital city, Ljubljana.
In 2020, he received the highest national award, the Bloudek Award, for his significant contribution to the development of Slovenian sports. Česen is also the recipient of an award from the largest international dance organization, IDO, as an outstanding choreographer and coach, and since 2020, he has been part of the HALL OF FAME.
He dances and choreographs for numerous television and commercial shows, theater performances and musicals, music videos, concerts with top singers, fashion shows, cruises, children's TV series, and other national and gala events. Matevž has had roles in several contemporary dance houses, theaters, and the national opera house. He has collaborated with Nicol Scherzinger, Pussycat Dolls, Duffy, Andrea Bocelli, and he is especially proud of his royal performances in the UK and WEST END shows...
Matevž Česen is one of the most successful and recognized Slovenian dancers and choreographers. His work is acknowledged both domestically and internationally.
